Hi, I'm Cormac Lawler, and I'm active at Wikiversity (at http://en.wikiversity.org). I use the "Cormaggio" moniker simply because it's unique, and I'm kinda used to it at this stage - however, I generally prefer people to call me Cormac. :-) I'm 29, from Ireland, and am in the first of a three year PhD in Education at the University of Manchester.
I'm interested in sharing experiences with other similar sites around - what we've found useful or not, lessons learned etc. - as well as addressing the issue of whether we are duplicating each other's efforts along the way. In this, the terms of licences we use seem to be crucial - and I'm learning about this all the time. Do free licences give us enough freedom to mix, match and mash between OER sites as and when we like? What (if any) are the limitations/impediments to sharing content? Also, crucially, how can we improve our sharing of our knowledge, and improve on our practices? This site and the associated mailing list are a great resource (for which I deeply thank Rob), so are there any activities that we could be doing that might facilitate our own learning? I'm trying to initiate an umbrella action research project on Wikiversity about Wikiversity itself ("Developing Wikiversity through action research") - if anyone's interested in moving on something even larger - enveloping all of our work - I would love to hear your ideas, and to work on developing them together.
I have a blog and a wiki to document my research (they're just stumbling along for now really..)
Please feel free to also post a note to my Wikiversity talk page - and please be sure to leave a message (anywhere) if there's a page on this wiki or elsewhere that you think I should have a look at. Thanks! Cormaggio 08:43, 19 February 2007 (PST)
