Wikiversity (Main Page) is a project of the Wikimedia Foundation (Wikipedia, Wikibooks etc.) devoted to education. Specifically, Wikiversity aims to:

  • Develop open and free content educational materials in all languages for all learner levels,
  • Foster learning communities around these materials (or in appropriate spaces),
  • Host and facilitate further research (guidelines and scope still in development).

Wikiversity is a wiki, and hence editable by anyone - whether logged in or not. It aims to be useful for a wide range of people and contexts, including:

  • Teachers/homeschoolers who can use its materials for their face to face or online/distance classes/lessons,
  • Students who want to use its materials for self-study,
  • Researchers who want to publish their research and submit it for peer-review, review other people's research, and/or to undertake new research projects
  • People who are interested in sharing their knowledge, thoughts, and experiences with other people, in order to further their own or other people's learning.

The content of Wikiversity is released under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) - hopefully this can promote (and not unduly hinder) the sharing of resources between projects of similar missions and visions (including all projects of this wiki).
